The basic condition of retaining natural qualities in the aquatic-peat bog park was to keep appropriate water relations.
The park has signed an agreement on cooperation with Szacki National Park in Ukraine and Wildlife Conservation Service in the Netherlands. About 80 kilometres of tourist trails were marked out. 5 new forest settlements were built, a nursery-garden was created.
On 30 April 2002 two Biosphere Reserves “Polesie Zachodnie” (West Polesie) in Poland and “Szacki” in Ukraine were formed. In 2004 another Biosphere Reserve “Pribuzhskoye-Polesie’ in Belorussia was formed. Efforts are made to confer a status of the trans-border International Biosphere Reserve. This reflects their enormous importance in European as well as the world’s strategy of wildlife conservation and balanced development.
